Breckel’s grand slam leads Trigg past Christian County

Trigg County got a grand slam from Livia Breckel as part of a six-run sixth inning and defeated host Christian County 9-2. Monday in a high school softball game 

The Lady Wildcats scored a solo run in the top of the second inning and pushed their lead to 3-0 after three. 

Christian County cut the lead to 3-1 in the bottom of the fourth when Alison Grantsingled to score Chloe Almy. 

However, Trigg put the game away in the sixth.The Lady Wildcats had seven hits in the frame and extended their lead to 9-1. 

The Lady Colonels (6-3-1) cut the lead to 9-2 in the bottom of the seventh as Jayda Turner singled to score Alexis Epps. 

The No. 20-ranked Lady Wildcats outhit the Lady Colonels 16-6 to get the win. Jayda Turner led the Lady Colonels with a pair of singles. 

Jordan Turner suffered the pitching loss for Christian County while Tember Oliver pitched a complete-game, seven-hitter for the win. 

The Lady Colonels are scheduled to return to action today at Calloway County.
