University Heights Academy scored three times in the second half and rallied twice to defeat Christian County 3-2 in a boys’ high school soccer game Thursday night at Chris Simmons Field.
Lincoln Hauret’s goal off an assist from Hayden Hunt with 16 minutes left was the difference maker for the Blazers, who are now tied with Hopkinsville for first place in the District 8 standings at 1-0.
The Colonels got on the board first on a goal by Noah Davis in the 5th minute on an assist from Alex Hale. The game remained 1-0 at halftime.
Griffin McCoy tied the game at 1-1 in the opening five minutes of the second half on an assist from Hauret.
After Hale scored in the 53rd minute off a long free kick to put the Colonels ahead 2-1, McCoy knotted the game at 2-2 on a penalty kick after a Colonel defender was called for a handball in the box.
UHA, which improved to 5-3 overall, outshot the Colonels 11-5. Eli Finch had three saves for the Blazers.
Mason Malone was credited with 13 saves for Christian County, which slipped to 7-3 overall and 1-1 in district play.
UHA will play at Heritage Christian Academy in a District 8 game on Saturday afternoon. Christian County is back in action Tuesday at HCA.
