University Heights Academy scored twice in the first four minutes and went on to rout host Heritage Christian Academy 9-0 Saturday in a boys’ District 8 soccer match.
The victory improved UHA to 2-0 in district play, giving it a one-game lead over Hopkinsville in the standings. HCA slipped to 0-1 in district play.
Logan Miller had a pair of goals and added an assist to lead UHA (6-3). Cadence Gibson also had a pair of goals for the Blazers.
Clayton Lester had a goal and two assists. Jayden Williamson, Eli Finch, Harlow Hampton and Teerth Shah also scored. Gavin Wilcox provided an assist.
The game was called at halftime due to the mercy rule.
UHA was scheduled to play Mayfield in the All “A” Classic Sectional game tonight, but the match was rescheduled to 7 p.m. Saturday. Following the Blazers’ win on Saturday, the team learned of the death of a UHA student earlier in the morning.
HCA returns to action Tuesday night at home against Christian County in a District 8 match.
