Both University Heights Academy soccer teams will be headed to the All “A” State Tournament after victories in the Region 2 championship games Thursday night at Fort Campbell.
In the boys’ game, Cal Givens scored with 14:31 left and the Blazers’ defense held Fort Campbell without a shot as UHA won 1-0.
The Blazers (4-1) outshot the Falcons 29-0. Seventeen of those shots were on goal.
Eli Finch earned the shutout in goal for UHA, who will play Mayfield in an All “A” sectional game. That game has yet to be scheduled.
It was the ninth straight Region 2 All “A” soccer tournament championship for the Blazers.
Meanwhile, the Lady Blazers had a little easier time, defeating Caldwell County 5-0 Thursday night in the second game at Fort Campbell.
Skylar Cantrell and Kendall Hancock each had a pair of goals and an assist to pace the Lady Blazers (4-0).
Audrey Perry had a goal and an assist. Ajae Oatts and Gracie Ausenbaugh each provided an assist for UHA, which will play St. Mary in a sectional game. That game has yet to be scheduled.
Madison Williams had three saves in goal to earn the shutout victory.
