The Christian County Lady Colonels shook off the rust of a long Christmas break and handed visiting Webster County a 59-9 girls’ basketball loss Tuesday night at Lyle Dunbar Gym.
The Lady Colonels’ pressure defense smothered Webster County all night and led to a 21-0 run to open the game.
The outcome was never in doubt as Christian County outscored the Lady Trojans 22-5 in the second quarter for a 43-7 lead at the break.
Christian County (5-6) limited the Lady Trojans (5-7) to only one basket in the second half, which was played with a running clock.
Anaysia Bagwell, who was honored before the game for scoring her 2,000th career point earlier in the season, scored 20 points to pace the Lady Colonels. Carliah Hobson and Genesis McGee added 13 and 10 points, respectively.
The Lady Colonels return to action Friday night at 6 p.m. against Hopkinsville in a District 8 game. Airtime is 5:45 p.m. on 95.3 The Farm and 953thefarm.com.
