The temperatures are starting to dip and Atmos Energy is providing some tips on how to remain warm while conserving energy.
Atmos Energy is a natural gas provider based in Dallas, Texas with multiple locations in western Kentucky including Hopkinsville.
As the cold season approaches, officials at Atmos Energy have created the Winter Warm-Up Checklist. The company encourages folks to make sure their natural gas service is active before the low temperatures arrive and to activate text alerts to receive important service-related messages.
The checklist also includes tips for saving money and energy. Atmos Energy says folks can lower their thermostat to 68 degrees, limit shower and bath times and operate their clothes washer, dryer and dishwasher only when fully loaded.
Lastly, folks are asked to follow winter safety tips such as inspecting their natural gas piping and appliances, making sure smoke detectors and carbon monoxide alarms are working and ensuring snow and ice does not cover the gas meter.
