Arts Council Director spotlights upcoming shows

Things have been busy at the Alhambra Theatre, and Pennyroyal Arts Council Director Margaret Prim recently appeared on WHOP to share what they have planned for the current season.

The Hoptown Holiday Hopfest is one of the council’s biggest fundraisers, and this year, Singer-Songwriter Deana Carter is set to put on a show. Carter is known for songs such as “Strawberry Wine,” “We Danced Away,” and “How Do I Get There.”

Along with the music, Prim says, weather permitting, the festival will include a beer garden, line dancing and community artwork displays.

The council is hosting a buy-one-get-one sale for the festival. Prim says folks buying one ticket can get the second one free by using the code “Thankful” at checkout.

The festival takes over the theatre on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

Continuing with the council’s 2025-26 LIVE at the Alhambra season, the Fabulous Equinox Orchestra, Sean of the South, Alfreda Sings Tina Turner, An Evening with Sade and The SteelDrivers will be coming to the theatre.

Prim says they are already working on finding shows for next year’s LIVE season and gave listeners a little preview of what to expect. Prim says they plan to host singer Martha Redbone, who will be performing poems by bell hooks to music.

Tickets for upcoming shows are available at pennyroyalarts.org.
