The Nashville District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is investing $205 million into projects in Kentucky and Tennessee focusing on waterway navigation, flood risk management, hydropower, recreation and environmental protections.
The projects are a part of the Nashville District’s 2025 fiscal work plan. Lieutenant Colonel Robert Green, the commander of the Nashville District, says the investment empowers them to continue delivering solutions that benefit communities, infrastructure and the environment throughout the Cumberland and Tennessee River basins.
From the investment, a little over $48 million will be going toward projects in Kentucky. These projects will take place at Barkley Dam and Lake Barkley, Laurel River Lake, Martins Fork Lake, Middlesboro Cumberland River Basin and Wolf Creek Dam.
Then in Tennessee, the Nashville District will be working on projects at Center Hill Lake, Cheatham Lock and Dam, Cordell Hull Dam and Reservoir, Dale Hollow Lake, J. Percy Priest Dam and Reservoir, Old Hickory Lock and Dam, Tennessee River and the Chickamauga Lock.
