Area athletes among state’s tops in statistics

Several local athletes and teams are among the leaders in the early season statistics released this week by the Kentucky High School Athletic Association.

In boys’ soccer, Heritage Christian Academy’s Kallan Davis ranks ninth in goals with 20. He also is 13th in points with 42.

Christian County goalkeeper Mason Malone is sixth in shutouts with five and HCA keeper Cayden Nowak is 15th with 102 saves.

In girls’ soccer, University Heights Academy is third in team scoring margin and fifth in scoring with 47 goals on the season.

Kendall Hancock leads the way with 21 goals, which is 14th in the state. She also is 13th in the state in points with 49.

Defensively, the Lady Blazers are sixth in defense, having allowed only five goals on the year. They also are ninth in shutouts with six.

UHA goalkeeper Madison Williams is eighth in the state with six shutouts.

Hopkinsville’s Jaleigha McFarland is 14th in saves with 110.

In high school football, Hopkinsville wide receiver Treston Kay is fourth among Class 4-A players, in receiving with 12 catches for 296 yards. He also is ninth in scoring with 50 points.

Tigers quarterback Aiden King is eighth in passing, having completed 34-of-61 passes for 614 yard and nine touchdowns with only two interceptions.

As a team, Hopkinsville is 10th in passing among Class 4-A teams, with 614 yards and 20th in rushing with 475 yards.
