Rand Paul talks faith and liberty at God, Country and Flag luncheon

The Todd, Christian and Logan County Republicans Parties gathered together Friday afternoon for their God, Country and Flag luncheon, where they heard from U.S. Senator Rand Paul.

In a departure from talking policies, budgets and law-making, Senator Paul instead focused on the importance of community, good-natured and good-hearted people and the virtues and faith that have shaped this country since its inception.

He says liberty and freedom are a beautiful thing, even more so when people are joined together in the want to do good and don’t depend on government to teach people what values matter most.

The senator says he hopes the audience takes with them the knowledge that the mission of teaching fellow citizens right-from-wrong starts with local leaders and individuals.

Senator Paul says his message is not one of division, as he thinks everyone can agree that the world is better when those of differing opinions can meet in the middle and choose to do the right thing.

Speaking briefly of politics, the senator says the people of the United States are the ultimate decision makers, as they are the ones who elect their representatives at all levels of government.

Attendees also got to hear from State Representatives Myron Dossett and Jason Petrie, along with Reverends Don Marsh and Michael Cummings, with roughly 130 people in attendance.
