Daily rain chances in store before a drier end to the week

The week looks to have frequent chances for rain and storms to start, before drier weather slides in to close out the week.

Forecast Andy Lesage with the National Weather Service in Paducah says there will be daily chances for rain and some blustery storms on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

He says they’re not expecting much in the way of severe weather at the moment, but they are expecting some heavy rain, which could lead to localized flooding issues. The best chances for rain and storms will be Wednesday evening as a cold front moves through the region.

In the 8-to-14 day outlook, things are looking cooler-than-average temperature wise, with about near normal trends for precipitation.

Lesage says 2024 has been a big year for tornadoes locally, with 54 reported so far this year.

The National Weather Service continues to conduct damage surveys across the region, looking to document everything that occurred during the severe weather event that resulted in numerous tornadoes on May 26.
