A Dawson Springs man was killed in a head-on collision on KY 70 near Madisonville Thursday afternoon.
According to Kentucky State Police, it happened around 5 p.m. and preliminary investigation revealed that a dump truck driven by 29-year-old Jacob Adams of Dawson Springs was heading eastbound on KY 70. At that time, 38-year-old Justin Hilt of Dawson Springs was driving a passenger car westbound.
Approximately three miles west of Madisonville, Hilt attempted to pass another vehicle that was also heading westbound, and during the attempt, collided head-on with the dump truck.
Hilt was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Hopkins County Coroner.
