Senator McConnell talks federal appropriations

With Congress avoiding another government shutdown for now, Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky is pleased with the appropriations bills that are working their way through the legislative body.

That includes the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2024, which includes funding for multiple projects on Fort Campbell and significant resources to support important Kentucky institutions and programs. Senator McConnell says work has been happening for months on a balanced appropriations bill and it received good support.

He says it will strength protections for the nation’s farmland, expand support for agriculture and help support law enforcement across the country.

The bill provides funding for rural water systems and wastewater programs important to Kentucky, developing rural broadband internet access, supports critical grant programs for the Delta Regional Authority to support infrastructure and economic development in the Mississippi Delta region, which includes several counties in Western Kentucky and more.
