Man facing numerous charges following Madisonville pursuit

A man is facing a slew of charges from the Madisonville Police Department following a pursuit that ended when he ran into a residence on Old Madisonville Road Tuesday afternoon.

According to the report, officers observed a vehicle heading south on I-69 around 3:40 p.m. that reportedly was driving reckless, swerving over the road lines and driving too closely to other vehicles. Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop and the driver—identified as Davonta Spencer—reportedly fled.

The pursuit continued to Exit 108, when the vehicle possibly blew a tire and was stopped in the grass off of the highway, where officers saw Spencer fleeing on foot on Old Madisonville Road.

Spencer allegedly entered a residence in the 1200 block of Old Madisonville Road, telling the residents that he was running from police. Once told that a K9 unit would be entering the home, Spencer exited and was taken into custody.

In the bathroom where he had been hiding, officers reportedly located a bag of marijuana—Spencer allegedly said he had fled due to a large amount of marijuana being in the vehicle he was operating.

A search of the vehicle reportedly revealed a bag containing roughly six pounds of marijuana.

He is charged with two counts of fleeing or evading police, second-degree burglary, reckless driving, DUI, trafficking in marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
