Traffic stop results in Hopkinsville woman’s drug arrest

Officers of the Hopkinsville Police Department arrested 38-year-old Deanna Dukes of Hopkinsville after she was reportedly found to be in possession of methamphetamine on Thursday.

According to a report from police, Dukes was witnessed by officers operating a vehicle with a passenger on South Virginia Street. The responding officer reportedly saw that the passenger was not wearing a seat belt and performed a traffic stop on the vehicle.

The officer reportedly approached the passenger side of the vehicle and saw a clear bag in the vehicle’s cup holder. The officer then conducted a search of the vehicle and allegedly found that the bag contained methamphetamine.

Dukes reportedly admitted to the methamphetamine being hers and was charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance and operating a vehicle on a suspended license.
