Don Neagle of WRUS passes away at 86

Listeners in Logan County are mourning a man who spent decades co-owning, hosting and directing radio shows on WRUS in Russellville. 

Donald Overton Neagle has passed away at the age of 86. He worked in radio for over 65 years, including WRUS since 1958—he became part owner of WRUS in 2002 and over the years, interviewed national, state and local entities such as politicians, journalists, theologians, professors, farmers, historians and more.

Neagle was inducted into the Kentucky Broadcasters Hall of Fame in 2005, and the Kentucky Journalism Hall of Fame in 2006. He was named the News Democrat & Leader, Citizen of the Year in 2020.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, February 25, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. in the Young Funeral Home Russellville Chapel, with burial to follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery. Visitation at Young Funeral Home Russellville Chapel will begin Saturday from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and Sunday from 9:00 A.M. until funeral time at 2:00 P.M.
