Local NAACP extends deadline for community book ad submissions

The Hopkinsville Christian County branch of the NAACP is working to create a souvenir book with the goal of highlighting the community and raising funds toward their scholarship program to help local high schoolers pursuing higher education.

Local NAACP Branch President, Terri Redwine says the book’s theme is “Bridging Our Community” and local organizations can pay to have an ad in the book and the funds raised will go toward the branch’s Freedom Fund, with the anticipation of them giving away four scholarships to local high schoolers.

Redwine says she hopes to be able to give each student at least $1,000 scholarships, but that depends on how many pages they are able to sell. Redwine says the ads are open to businesses, churches, memorials, social organizations, events, youth accomplishments and more. Full pages are $100, half pages are $75, quarter pages are $50 and graduate ads are $25.

The original deadline for ads was January 31, but Redwine says the deadline was extended to February 15 because they still have people interested in buying ads.

Redwine says she hopes to have the book made and ready for sale by March at $20 so that students who receive scholarships will be able to put those funds toward their fall semester of college or trade school.
