Mother Nature interrupted the Hoptown Hoppers and Fulton Railroaders’ Game 3 showdown in the OVL semifinals Sunday night at Tiger Field.
The Hoppers led 10-2 with one out in the top of the eighth inning when league officials sent both teams off the field just before strong thunderstorms moved into the area.
Fulton, which had two men on base when the game was stopped, elected to return to Hopkinsville tonight to continue the game, which will resume where it was stopped.
The series is tied 1-1 with the Hoppers winning at home 13-2 on Friday and Fulton winning 15-14 on a two-run, walk-off home run on Saturday night at Lohaus Field. The winner of tonight’s game advances to play top seed Henderson on the road Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m.
Tonight’s game will air at 6:15 p.m. on 95.3 The Farm and 953thefarm.com.
Brennen Gibson had a pair of two-run triples and Dom Hartman drove in three to stake the Hoppers to Sunday’s lead. Heath Henley started on the mound and threw six innings. He allowed only two runs and five hits.
