E-bike driver badly injured in Boulevard crash

The Hopkinsville Fire Department is urging caution to those who use electric bicycles, after they responded to their second crash involving an e-bike in a short time frame.

According to the department, crews responded to a crash involving the e-bike and passenger vehicle at the intersection of Fort Campbell Boulevard and Country Club Lane around 6 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. The driver of the bike was ejected, sustaining serious injuries that sent him to Vanderbilt Clarksville for treatment.

This marks the second collision involving an electric bicycle and a motor vehicle in the past two weeks.

So, they’d like to remind everyone that roadway safety is a shared responsibility, as bikes should follow the same rules of the road as vehicle drivers. Meanwhile, drivers should stay alert and slow down when approaching cyclists, and provide plenty of space for passing.
