CCPS Education Foundation spotlights support opportunities at annual luncheon

The Christian County Public Schools Education Foundation hosted its annual Champions for Education Luncheon on Wednesday where attendees toured the new high school and learned about the foundation’s work.

The luncheon was hosted at the consolidated Christian County High School, and after attendees toured the campus, Executive Principal Ken Carver highlighted the school’s culture and hosted a Q&A. Along with the construction of the school, Carver has emphasized that establishing a school culture was vital for the school’s success.

Carver spotlighted their core values, acceptable behaviors, the outcomes they hope to achieve and their vision. Carver says the school’s vision calls on the entire community to help equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary to be successful after they graduate.

The foundation is a nonprofit independent from the school system but supports the needs of students and educators. Since its inception, a few years ago, the foundation has launched the Bright Idea Grants for educators; the Teacher Corner, which offers free classroom supplies and supported the expansion of Inspire Learning Academy.

New this year, the foundation established the Sunny Awards. Foundation Board Chair, Tracy Pelletier says a CCPS employee who displays kindness and helpfulness will be awarded with a free paid day off.

As construction concludes at the consolidated high school, Pelletier says the luncheon was a chance for them to launch their new naming rights campaign. She says local organizations are invited to make donations to the foundation for the ability to name parts of the school, and those funds will support student needs.
