The community is rallying around a young woman who was badly injured in a boating accident on Lake Barkley last weekend.
In a listing on Spotfund, Rylee Owens was severely injured in a boating accident on July 3 on Lake Barkley and has been in the hospital since, with likely a long-road to recovery ahead of her. Now, the community has arrived enforce to surround her and her family with support and love.
The Spotfund has a goal of $50,000—and as of Tuesday, $43,247 of that has been raised to help Rylee and her family face medical expenses and the unexpected costs that come with caring for a loved one who has suffered a traumatic injury.
That’s not the only way you can help out however, as Roundies Rock Café is giving back 100 percent of the proceeds for every plate of spaghetti sold in the month of July to the family. On Monday alone, Roundies says 70 people came through the doors of the restaurant and all of them purchased a spaghetti plate to support the cause. If you’re not a spaghetti fan, they’ll have a donation jar set up at the register.
The incident is still under investigation by the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife, and the agency will release more information as it becomes available.
