CCSO shares details concerning multi-vehicle wreck on I-24

The Christian County Sheriff’s Office shared details on a chain collision that involved seven vehicles and resulted in multiple individuals suffering injuries Sunday afternoon on Interstate 24.

The wreck occurred in the westbound lane of I-24 near mile marker 91. when traffic came to a stop in front of Mahad Hashi of Minnesota, who was operating a tractor trailer. He reportedly told law enforcement that due to the wet roads he was unable to stop and collided with the car in front of him.

As a result of the traffic, Hashi set off a chain collision where multiple cars were pushed and struck the car in front of them. According to the sheriff’s office, 13 people were transported to area hospitals for injuries that are believed to be non-life-threatening.

Construction between mile markers 87 and 92 of I-24 has resulted in traffic that often becomes tight, and sheriff’s office notes that this played a key role in the wreck.
