The Hoptown Hoppers bounced back into the win column Wednesday night with a 9-1 victory over visiting Fulton in front of more than 600 fans at Tiger Stadium.
Dom Hartman went 3-for-4 with four RBIs and former University Heights Academy star Hayden Hunt and Nick Johnson also collected three hits for the Hoppers, who improved to 11-4.
The Railroaders (4-11) scored in the top of the first inning, but after that the Hoppers’ defense and some strong pitching kept the Fulton offense at bay. Hoptown turned three double plays.
Meanwhile, starting pitcher Tristan Seputis, former Christian County High School star Andrew Mayes, and Mark Harmon allowed only six more hits through the final eight innings. Mayes went four innings of scoreless relief and struck out five while only walking one.
The Hoppers, which fell to Henderson County 11-1 in seven innings on Tuesday night, scored four runs in the bottom of the third inning and never looked back.
Chance Sweeney added a pair of hits for Hoptown, which is off today before heading to Paducah on Friday night. The Hoppers’ next home game is Saturday night when Full Count visits Tiger Field for a 6:30 p.m. first pitch. Airtime is 6:15 p.m. on 95.3 The Farm and 953thefarm.com.
