Ground broken on Ascension Saint Thomas Clarksville campus

With shovels turning over dirt on Tuesday, community officials, physicians and healthcare partners in made it official, as ground was broken at the future site of Ascension Saint Thomas in Clarksville.

According to a news release, the groundbreaking marks the future site of a full-service hospital and health campus, located right near the intersection of Highway 76 and Interstate 24 in Clarksville. The new 96-acre campus will open with 44 inpatient beds and could expand up to 132 beds as the community needs.

Initial services will include emergency care, inpatient surgery, cardiology, neurosciences, women’s health, neonatal intensive care, oncology and orthopaedics. Additionally, the campus will include a comprehensive group of physicians and sub-specialtists, an inpatient rehabilitation hospital, outpatient surgery, advanced imaging and specialty ambulatory care.

The project is expected to create roughly 250 hospital jobs and generate approximately $316 million in annual economic impact. Construction was set to begin immediately following the ground breaking.

Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts says, “Clarksville continues to grow at a remarkable pace, and projects like this are critical to supporting the needs of our residents. This new hospital will enhance access to healthcare services and strengthen the overall well-being of families throughout our community.”
