Hopkins Co. welcomes new commonwealth’s attorney as Kathy Senter retires

Hopkins County now has a new commonwealth’s attorney, after longtime Commonwealth’s Attorney Kathy Senter retired recently.

Senter was the Commonwealth’s Attorney for the Fourth Judicial Circuit for the past 12 years, but she has 32 years as prosecutor, where she led with integrity and intelligence. She was the first woman to serve as Commonwealth’s Attorney in Hopkins County, and now she heads to retirement leaving behind a legacy in the state’s justice system.

Now, Hannah Kington-Jarvis will step into the role, having been appointed to that position by Governor Andy Beshear on June 1. She served directly under Senter for the last 12 years.

She says, “I look forward to continued service of this community. Hopkins County has always been my home and it has my heart. I’m so thankful for my coworkers who also have a heart for service and my family who helps to support me in countless ways.”

She will serve until such time that a new commonwealth’s attorney is elected by the people.
