The Hopkinsville Public Works Department is providing reassurance after some residents received a water level alert due to errors with a gauge on the South Fork Little River at the U.S. 68 Bypass.
Some folks may have received an alert from the United States Geological Survey that water levels were high at the South Fork of Little River, but Hopkinsville Public Works says they have determined that the readings currently being sent from the river elevation gauge are erroneous.
In a post to social media, they clarify that they have verified that there are no high water elevation issues or flooding concerns in that area at this time.
A request has been made that the USGS review the gauge and resolve the issue as quickly as possible. For now, folks are asked to disregard those alerts until such time the gauge can be fixed.
