Don’t look now, but your Hoptown Hoppers are off to a 3-0 start in the 2026 Ohio Valley League baseball standings after a 9-6 victory over the visiting Henderson Flash on Sunday night.
Charles Mealer hit a pair of home runs and drove in five runs on a 4-for-4 night. Evan Jacob also homered for the Hoppers.
Hoptown scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth and seventh runs to take the lead and then Jacob shut down the Flash over the final four innings to pick up the pitching win. He struck out six and walked one while only giving up three hits.
On Saturday night, the Hoppers beat host Fulton 7-3. Carter Ross picked up the pitching win, going 5 1/3 innings, allowing two runs on three hits, while striking out eight and walking four. Kade Wall led the Hoppers with a 2-for-4 night.
The Hoppers play host to the Paducah Chiefs tonight at 6:30 p.m. It is a free ticket night and fans are encouraged to bring lightly used baseball equipment to be donated to the YMCA and HCCYL. Airtime for tonight’s game is 6:15 p.m. on 95.3 The Farm and 953thefarm.com.
