Christian County Jail escapees back in custody following pursuit

Christian County Jail escapees, 30-year-old Elijah Boodoosingh of Hopkinsville and 39-year-old James Stull of Covington, are back in custody after leading law enforcement on a multi-county pursuit on Sunday.

According to the Christian County Jail, the pair escaped on Sunday by leaving their work release in Hopkinsville. Once the jail was alerted to the escape, law enforcement launched an investigation and found that the pair were reportedly connected to a carjacking and assault incident at a Family Dollar/Dollar Tree store in Crofton.

Kentucky State Police reportedly located the stolen vehicle near the 60-mile marker of the Western Kentucky Parkway and attempted to perform a traffic stop, but the driver ignored troopers. The pursuit continued through Muhlenberg, Ohio and Grayson Counties before troopers used a tire deflation device to stop the vehicle.

Boodoosingh was the driver while Stull was in the passenger seat. Caitlyn Burchett of Louisville was also in the car, but she was not charged.

Boodoosingh was charged with first-and second-degree fleeing or evading police, speeding, reckless driving, first-degree wanton endangerment, resisting arrest, possession of marijuana, possession of an alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle, failure to possess a license and second-degree escape. Stull was charged with second-degree escape, and the Christian County Sheriff’s Office additionally charged him with first-degree robbery and carjacking.

Stull was transported back to the Christian County Jail while Boodoosingh was lodged at the Muhlenberg County Detention Center. The Christian County Sheriff’s Office says Boodoosingh is set to be served with additional charges.

Following the escape, the jail launched an internal investigation, along with an independent review conducted by the Kentucky Department of Corrections.
