A large vehicle fire at Byard Construction and McAsphalt in Clarksville shutdown the roadway for a short time as fire fighters battled the blaze.
Crews were called to the construction facility on Kraft Street at just before noon for reports of a fire and arrived to find a 2,000-gallon tanker truck fully engulfed in flames. That tanker was carrying tack oil for asphalt.
The fire was brought under control at roughly 12:30 p.m. with no injuries, though surrounding areas may have heard two loud ‘boom’ sounds that resembled explosions. Those sounds were the tires on the tanker popping due to the fire.
Both Kraft and College Streets were closed during the incident.
