Blazers roll past Fort Campbell in district baseball

A 10-run third inning carried seventh ranked University Heights Academy to a 17-2 District 8 baseball win over visiting Fort Campbell Monday.  

Fort Campbell, which has not beaten UHA in baseball since 2006, jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning. The Falcons (0-6, 0-1) used a double by Javi Ramirez, who scored along with Joseph Katz on a wild pitch. 

The Blazers (8-1, 2-0) scored four runs in the bottom of the first. UHA took advantage of three walks, a single by Aiden Jones and a double by Courtland Gibson. 

UHA scored two more runs in the bottom of the second before its big third inning put the game out of reach. 

Courtland Gibson went 3-for-3 and Caydence Gibson had a pair of hits. Jackson Flynn and Aiden Jones also had a two hits and Hayden Hunt blasted a home run for UHA. 

The Blazers return to action today at Daviess County.
