Hopkinsville Police arrested 27-year-old Brandon Cummings of Hopkinsville after he reportedly forced entry into a residence and assaulted the occupant on Friday.
Officers responded to a residence on North Jessup Street where the caller reported that Cummings was beating her up. At the scene, officers made contact with the victim who allegedly said that Cummings forced his way into the front door of her home and started arguing with her concerning personal property.
The argument became physical when Cummings reportedly slapped the victim’s face and then tried to further physically assault her. During the altercation, the victim told officers that Cummings allegedly prevented her from leaving the house and when she was able to break free she ran down the street and used a stranger’s phone to call 911.
Officers later made contact with Cummings, who told them that he did not lay a hand on the victim and claims that she kicked him multiple times. The victim reportedly had a red hand-print on her cheek and bruising around her right lower eyelid, which claimed was the result of a prior altercation with Cummings.
Cummings was charged with first-degree burglary and second-degree unlawful imprisonment.
