McGee to open season on Brewers’ 40-man roster

Former Hopkinsville HIgh School baseball player Easton McGee will start the 2026 Major League Baseball season as part of the Milwaukee Brewers’ opening day roster.

According to fanrecap.com, McGee is expected to fill a key role in the Brewers’ bullpen this season.

The 6-foot-7 right-hander is listed as being in the eighth spot in the team’s bullpen.

The former Tigers’ star pitched on Monday in the team’s 9-1 victory over the Cincinnati Reds. McGee gave up two hits and a run in an inning of work.

Last season, McGee bounced back and forth from Milwaukee to the Brewers’ Triple-A affiliate Nashville Sounds. He pitched 14 2/3 innings for the Brewers and had a 5.52 ERA. He struck out 13 batters and walked four.

The Brewers open the 2026 season at home on Thursday against the Chicago White Sox.
