Blazers baseball splits doubleheader with OCath, Bowling Green

University Heights Academy’s baseball team split a pair of games with top-20 opponents Saturday at Owensboro Catholic.

Against 20th-ranked Bowling Green, the Blazers’ offense couldn’t get going and they fell 6-0. Jackson Flynn and AJ Hogart both had two hits and Ryan Luckey rapped a double to lead the UHA attack.

The No. 16-ranked Blazers then took on No. 10-ranked OCath and rode the strong starting pitching of Jaiden Miles to a 4-1 victory. Miles gave up only one run and four hits in 5 2/3 innings.

Cadence Gibson had a two-run home run in the top of the third inning and that was all the offense the Blazers would need.

UHA (2-1) returns to action at home against Muhlenberg County at 5:30 p.m. Thursday. Airtime for the game is set for 5:15 p.m. on 95.3 The Farm and 953thefarm.com.
