Small Town Monsters is a production team that spotlights folklore across rural America, and they are set to come to Hopkinsville to film a documentary about the Kelly Green Men Encounter.
In 1955, the Hopkinsville police station received multiple reports from folks claiming they had a close encounter with extraterrestrial beings in the Kelly community. The incident later became known as the Kelly Green Men Encounter.
According to a press release from Visit Hopkinsville, Small Town Monsters has produced multiple documentaries, investigative series and podcasts spotlighting the lore across the country. The production team is not a stranger to the region, as they have produced the documentaries “Dogman Territory: Werewolves in the Land Between the Lakes” and “The Mark of the Bell Witch.”
Visit Hopkinsville Executive Director Amy Rogers says having Small Town Monsters come and capture the story of the Kelly Green Men is phenomenal, and it’s another opportunity to showcase all the weird, wild, and wonderful things about Hopkinsville.
Filming for the documentary is set to start on Thursday.
