The Murray State Racers will continue their 2025-26 men’s basketball season as they have accepted a bid to play in the National Invitational Tournament.
Murray (20-12) will play Nevada (22-12) at 9 p.m. Wednesday at Lawlor Evens Center in Reno in the Auburn Regional.
The Racers were defeated by UIC in the State Farm Arch Madness 92-79 last week and thought their season might have come to an end.
However, they will be playing in the NIT for the ninth time in school history and for the first time since 2015.
Wednesday’s game will be the first meeting between the Pack and Racers.
The winner advances to the second round to face the winner of George Mason against Liberty in a game that will be played on Tuesday night.
In eight previous trips to the NIT, the Racers are 4-8 all-time including a run to the quarterfinals the last time they were in the bracket in 2015.
The game will air on ESPN+.
