A line of severe storms that was riddled with warnings raced through the region Sunday night, bringing down trees and power lines across Christian, Todd and Trigg counties, plunging a few thousand people into the dark for several hours as crews worked to restore power.

Pennyrile Electric and Hopkinsville Electric System crews were still hard at work as of Monday morning, as they worked to replace power poles that had been snapped by damaging winds and fix power lines brought down by branches.

Thousands of people were without power for several hours Monday night and several roads were blocked for some time by downed trees.

Winds gusted up to 80 miles per hour is some areas and there was a brief tornado warning that moved out of Christian and into Todd County, but luckily, no one was injured during our Ides of March storm.
