Hopkins County Central made short work of the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers in their Girls’ Region 2 Basketball Tournament quarterfinal game Tuesday night in Morton’s Gap.
The Lady Storm ran out to a 30-4 lead and rolled to a 76-24 victory over the Lady Tigers, who saw their season end at 2-19.
It also was the last game in Lady Tigers’ basketball history as the program will consolidate with Christian County in the 2026-27 season.
Hoptown opened the game with a bucket by Serenity Ewing to take a 2-0 lead. However, the Lady Storm ripped off the next 18 points and never looked back.
Hopkinsville had only two scorers in the game with Ewing scoring 13 points and Laelah Watkins adding 11.
Addie Menser scored 22 points to lead Hopkins Central. Menser also connected on a three-pointer in the second half to send her over the 1,000-point mark.
Calajia Mason 19 points and Tyah White had 13 for the Lady Storm, who led by as many as 55 points in the second half.
Hopkins Central (20-11) advances to Friday night’s 7:30 p.m. semifinals to take on Henderson County, which defeated Lyon County 49-46 in the second game Tuesday night.
Friday’s first game will feature Crittenden County against Caldwell Co. at 6 p.m.
