Aaliyah Bell rattled home a three-pointer with 7.8 seconds remaining and sent visiting Christian County to a 53-50 girls’ high school basketball win over Logan County Thursday night.
The Lady Cougars had tied the game seconds earlier. Bell’s shot from the left wing rescued the Lady Colonels, who let a six-point lead late slip away.
Christian County was plagued by foul trouble in the first half. In addition, senior guard Anaysia Bagwell took a hard fall and was injured early in the second quarter. She was able to return in the third quarter.
The two teams battled back and forth most of the first half before the Lady Colonels grabbed a 31-25 lead. However, Logan rallied to tie the game at 38 after three quarters.
Behind the play of Bagwell and Carliah Hobson, Christian County was able to grab a six-point lead midway through the fourth quarter. However, point guard Genesis McGee fouled out and the Lady Cougars began to chip away at the lead. They were able to tie the game just seconds before Bell’s winning shot.
Christian County was led by Carliah Hobson’s 15 points. Bagwell finished with 12 points. Bell had 11 as the Lady Colonels played their final regular season game in school history.
