After nearly two years of investigation, an arrest has been in connection to the death of a Benton man in 2024.
According to a news release, 44-year-old Jesse Moore of Benton was found deceased at a home in Possum Trot, after an abandoned vehicle was found in the Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area in Marshall County that was known to belong to Moore. Moore appeared to have died at the result of a gunshot wound, and as foul play was suspected, an investigation began.
Through that investigation, 39-year-old Haley Nelson of Bowling Green was identified as a suspect, and on February 5 of 2026, a grand jury returned an indictment for murder and tampering with physical evidence against her.
She was arrested on Friday and lodged in the Warren County Regional Jail. The investigation remains ongoing.
