Hoptown boys’ swimmers finish 4th at Region 1 Meet

The Hopkinsville Tigers’ swim team saw its final season come to an end on Monday at the Region 1 Swim Meet at the Rick Cohn Aquatic Center.

Hoptown will consolidate with Christian County High School to make the Christian County Tigers next season.

The Tigers scored 174 points and finished fourth in Monday’s regional meet and did not have any swimmers advance to this weekend’s Semi State 1 Meet at Bowling Green High School.

Henderson County edged Murray 354-324 to win the region crown. Madisonville-North Hopkins took third place with 307. Hopkinsville (174) and Fort Campbell (165) rounded out the top five.

Freshman Levi Johnston came within a half-second of earning a chance to compete in the next round. He finished third in the 100-yard Butterfly.

Owen Lockhart also took third place in the 500-yard Freestyle.

The Tigers’ 200-yard Medley Relay team of Owen Lockhart, Simon Lockhart, Johnston, and Tyson Cavinder finished fourth. The 200-yard Relay team of Elijah Ebbinger, Owen Lockhart, Simon Lockhart, and Johnston also took fourth place.
