Christmas is fast approaching, and the Hopkinsville Police Department is doing their part in spreading a little holiday cheer while urging people to stay smart and safe.
Public Information Officer Collette Marfil, along with Bolo the Paw-trol Dog, made a visit to WHOP Tuesday morning and Marfil says they have a Toy Drive coming up on December 16 at 11 a.m. at JPM Powersports, with donations set to benefit their Christmas Morning Miracle.
The Morning Miracle initiative traditionally delivers donated toys to children in need in the community on Christmas Day, and Marfil says anyone wanting to donate to the cause can bring the new, unwrapped toy by the police department.
She also had some safety and security tips for the holidays—make sure to keep your personal items, such as wallets and cellphones, on your person while shopping and not left unattended in the shopping cart. Also, since it is getting colder, make sure you’re not leaving your running car unattended while warming it up.
As for Bolo, Officer Marfil says he was their first visitor through their Paw-trol partnership with the Christian County Regional Animal Shelter, and they knew he was home to stay when he came to the department.
However, the Paw-trol program continues, where they showcase dogs that are for adoption at the shelter in the hope of finding them a forever home—which Marfil has seen some success so far.Â
