Communities surrounding Fort Campbell might see some increased military activity in the area, as an installation wide training exercise gets underway on Sunday.
Operation Lethal Eagle will start on January 18 and run through February 7, according to a news release, and it will train over 7,000 soldiers on large scale air assault operations. The exercise will involve 22 rotary wing aircraft, including two Marine Corps V-22 Ospreys.
Along with the soldiers, the exercise will also test more than 30 systems of emerging military technology.
Operation Lethal Eagle is designed to help maintain the 101st Airborne Division Air Assault’s capacity as the leading division in the U.S. Army for large-scale air operations and technologies.
