The Christian County Sheriff’s Department is putting out a warning—the scammers are back at it again and they’re saying don’t fall for it.
There have been reports of an active phone scam going through the community, where a scammer is impersonating CCSO deputies and claiming victims have either an active warrant, a pending arrest or have jury duty violations. They then demand payment so you can avoid being arrested.Â
Plainly, this is a scam, with officials saying the Sheriff’s Office will never call you requesting money, gift cards or electronic payment to prevent arrests.
Folks are advised to never share personal or financial information over the phone, and hung up and report the suspicious calls. If you ever have any doubt during a phone call—just hang up.
Anyone with questions or who believes they’ve been a victim of scam are asked to call CCSO at 270-887-4141.
