Suspect charged with murder in Lovers Lane crash arraigned in Circuit Court

The man charged with murder in connection to a fatal crash that occurred on Lovers Lane in November was arraigned in Christian Circuit Court Tuesday morning.

Douglas Jones of Hopkinsville appeared before Judge John Atkins for his arraignment, and he is represented by defense attorney Ramon McGee, who entered in notice of his appearance and a not-guilty plea on his client’s behalf.

The collision resulted in the death of William “Ide” Bouldin, who was parked in his driveway, out of the roadway, checking his mail when the wreck happened. Jones is facing charges of murder and first-degree wanton endangerment, after results from the Kentucky State Police Crime Laboratory reportedly revealed that his blood alcohol content was roughly three times the legal limit when the crash happened.

Once getting the arraignment procedures complete, Judge Atkins recused himself from presiding over this case, saying he was a longtime friend of Bouldin, and he feels serving as judge here would be a conflict of interest.

Jones’ case will go to Judge Andrew Self’s court, where McGee says they intend to speak with Judge Self about allowing Jones to receive medical treatment for his own injuries, outside of the jail.

Jones will appear in Self’s court on January 28th.
