University Heights holds off Dawson Springs

Dawson Springs missed two 3-point attempts in the final seconds and host University Heights Academy held on for a 51-50 boys’ high school basketball victory Thursday night.

The Panthers (1-5) missed a free throw that would have tied the game, but rebounded the miss only to misfire on two final long-range attempts.

The game was close throughout with UHA leading 11-9 after one quarter and 25-24 at the break.

The Blazers were clinging to a 37-34 lead entering the final period.

Keyshawn Moore led the Blazers with 22 points and Nash McAfee added 10.

Dawson placed four players in double figures led by Cooper Burge with 11 points. Noah Riley, Ethan Slaton, and Jayden Plunkett each had 10.

UHA improves to 2-3 and will play tonight at Union County.
