Lady Tigers take 3rd at Rick Cohn Invitational

The Hopkinsville Lady Tigers’ swim team finished third place in the annual Rick Cohn Invitational held Saturday at the Rick Cohn Aquatic Center at Hopkinsville High School.

Hopkinsville’s Grace Cansler finished second in the 100-yard breaststroke. The Lady Tigers’ Lily Johnston and Cansler also earned top-five finishes in the women’s 50-yard freestyle. Saralynn Major took fourth and teammate Kaley Bangart was fifth in the women’s 100-yard freestyle. Major also finished sixth in the 50-yard freestyle.

Hoptown’s women’s relay teams also had a strong day, taking third in the 200-yard medley relay, 200-yard freestyle relay, and fifth in the women’s 400-yard freestyle relay. The Lady Tigers’ “B” team was sixth in the 200-yard freestyle relay

Bowling Green won the girls’ team championship with 87 points, followed by Muhlenberg County with 63 and Hopkinsville with 42.

Kaley Bangart also earned a top-10 finish by taking seventh in the 200-yard freestyle. Sarah Kate Gilliam finished 10th.  Evelyn Bangart took ninth in the 100-yard freestyle.

Brilyn Merrick swam to an eighth-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke.

For the Tigers’ boys’ team, Levi Johnston took fifth in the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly to led Hopkinsville to a ninth-place finish with five points.

Owen Lockhart swam to a sixth-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle and Simon Lockhart finished 10th in the 200-yard I.M.

The Tigers’ 200-yard free relay team finished 10th.

Bowling Green won the boys’ team team with 78 points, edging Muhlenberg County (71). Henderson County finished third with 35 points.
