The Tennessee Valley Authority is full steam ahead on nuclear energy, but the gas, hydro and coal generation fleet delivered energy right behind them.
That diverse power generation fleet delivered strong reliability performance this year, with 389 billion cubic feet of natural gas and 14 million tons of coal supplied. This fuel mix generated enough electricity to power an estimated 7.2 million homes. TVA President and CEO Don Moul says this is all going towards making America energy secure and independent, which can only benefit the United States in the long run.
In the long term, Moul says the TVA remains committed to establishing new energy while expanding their existing nuclear energy systems.
He took the time to brag on the many staff, engineers, maintenance members and numerous other employees of the TVA, saying they’re the ones that make the power stays on every day of the year.
The Tennessee Valley Authority is the nation’s largest public power supplier, delivering energy to more than 10 million people across seven southeastern states. TVA has one of the most diverse energy systems – including nuclear, hydro, gas, renewable, and advanced technologies.
