A Hopkinsville man is now facing a charge of murder in connection with a fatal crash that occurred on Lovers’ Lane on October 25.
As previously reported, the collision happened at approximately 9:40 p.m. that night when a vehicle driven by 42-year-old Douglas Jones of Hopkinsville was heading eastbound in the 1700 block of Lovers’ Lane, and he reportedly went off the right side of the roadway. His vehicle struck another vehicle that was parked off of the roadway and in a driveway, where 77-year-old William “Ide” Bouldin was checking the mail.
Bouldin had reportedly been leaning out of the open door of the parked automobile when he was struck, ejecting him from the vehicle. He was rushed to Jennie Stuart Medical Center, where he would be pronounced deceased. A passenger, 63-year-old Starr Bouldin, was taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries.
Now, the Christian County Sheriff’s Department has arrested and charged Jones with murder and first-degree wanton endangerment, after results from the Kentucky State Police Crime Laboratory allegedly revealed that his blood alcohol content was roughly three times the legal limit when the collision occurred.
