It was a long day for marching bands across the state on Saturday, as young musicians performed and did their best during state competition—but there could only be one state champion, and that victory was scored by the Christian County Colonel Marching Band.
Students and staff are undoubtedly walking on air this morning, after the marching band at Christian County High School brought home the highest honor in the state, named State Champion in Class AAAA. Officials say, “We are unbelievably proud of our students, staff, and families for their dedication, passion, and heart throughout this unforgettable season. This is history. This is legacy. This is Colonel Pride.”
Not too far behind them was the Hopkinsville High School Band of Tigers, which placed third in the state competition—a position not to be sneezed at.
With their success in hand, the Colonel Band has two more competitions in store for the season, set to travel to two Bands of America competitions in the coming weeks.
Next school year, the Colonel and Tiger marching bands will join as one, and with these top-earning spots in the state, it’s looking like they will be a formidable force on the field indeed.
