HCA holds off Lady Falcons to reach district volleyball title

Heritage Christian Academy’s bid to repeat as District 8 Volleyball Tournament champions remained alive following Tuesday night’s 3-1 win over Fort Campbell in the second semifinal match at Lyle Dunbar Gym.

The Lady Warriors looked impressive in the first two sets, earning 25-21 and 25-22 victories over the upset-minded Lady Falcons.

However, Fort Campbell won five straight points to take a 5-3 lead in the third set and slowly increased their advantage throughout. Eventually, the Lady Falcons extended their lead to 19-12.

Heritage made a strong comeback attempt before falling 25-23.

The two teams played a competitive fourth set, swapping the lead several times. However, it was HCA who was able to prevail 25-23 and advance to Thursday night’s 6 p.m. championship match against Christian County.

Bralee Fowler had 17 kills and 17 digs and Hadlee Hayes finished with 14 kills and 13 digs to lead HCA (15-17). Makenzie McCarty had 38 assists and two kills and Charity Chambers added 20 digs and a block.

HCA, which also used 16 digs and two assists from Allie Craft, defeated Christian County 3-1 in the 2024 district tournament final. The Lady Warriors have dropped both their regular season matches to the Lady Colonels this season.

Fort Campbell saw its season end with a 12-4 record.
